ChainCraft develops and exploits proprietary fermentation processes to produce biochemicals from organic and food waste. Its first product range is Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA), with the main product Caproic Acid serving as an intermediate for a C6 chemistry platform. MCFA can be used in animal feed, lubricants, plasticisers, polymers, coatings, and flavours and fragrances, enabling replacement of fossil- and palm oil-derived compounds. The company plans to use the newly raised funds to build an industrial-scale factory and accelerate expansion at its current demo facility in Amsterdam. ChainCraft has announced a partnership with animal feed company Agrifirm for purchase of circular fatty acids from its demo factory and expects further purchase agreements with chemical and animal feed partners for demonstration and large-scale facilities. The firm presents its biobased chemistry as circular and cost-competitive.
