Charm

Overview
Founded four years ago by former Apple engineer Toby Padilla and ex-Zenly head of voice Christian Rocha, Charm builds open-source tooling that upgrades the traditional command line interface with richer visuals and new capabilities. Its Go framework Bubble Tea lets developers create text-based user interfaces (TUIs) with mouse support, while Glow renders Markdown docs directly in the terminal. Additional products include VHS for recording CLI screencasts, Pop for sending email (with attachments) from the shell, and Mods, an AI assistant that pipes large-language-model output into command pipelines. The company is developing an enterprise offering that is already in private beta and is being adopted inside large organizations such as AWS, Shopify, Nvidia and GitHub. Charm employs about eight full-time staff across the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Germany. With fresh capital, the team plans to roll out the next generation of its platform and pursue “sustainable open-source software development and ethical monetization.”
