Overview

Fuel Capital is an early-stage venture fund dedicated to being more than a source of capital - we want to be true confidantes to every founder in the Fuel family. We stand in our founder’s corner, not their kitchen. We leverage our resources, connections, experience, and expertise to carve a shortcut for them - so their energy is spent on building the future, instead of knocking on doors.  Fuel was founded in 2013 by Chris Howard. Leah Solivan, founder of TaskRabbit, joined as a General Partner in 2017.  We invests in consumer, business software and cloud/ infrastructure companies. With a strong track record - including investments in 8 unicorns (Convoy, Flexport, Figma, Pacaso, Lattice, Highspot, thredUP, and Weave), several recently acquired companies (CTRL-Labs - acquired by Facebook, CoreOS - acquired by RedHat, Nervana - acquired by Intel, Hightower - acquired by View the Space), as well as numerous up-and-coming companies - Fuel has rightfully earned the reputation of being one of Silicon Valley’s leading seed funds.

  • Rosebud

    Participated · Seed · Jun 2025

Rosebud provides an AI-powered journaling app that analyzes users' entries to identify patterns, surface insights, ask questions, and offer personalized guidance and coaching. The product aims to help users understand themselves, build habits, and track goals while positioning the AI mentor as a supplement—not a replacement—to therapists. Since launch, the company says users have journaled 500 million words and spent more than 30 million minutes on the platform. Rosebud offers a free basic tier and a $12.99 monthly subscription that unlocks premium features such as long-term memory and voice and call modes; the app is available on web, iOS, and Android. Future plans include investing in proprietary memory technology, building out additional features, expanding accessibility via partnerships with schools, businesses, and clinics, and growing the team. The company was founded in 2023 by Chrys Bader and Sean Dadashi.

  • Charm

    Participated · Equity · Nov 2023

Founded four years ago by former Apple engineer Toby Padilla and ex-Zenly head of voice Christian Rocha, Charm builds open-source tooling that upgrades the traditional command line interface with richer visuals and new capabilities. Its Go framework Bubble Tea lets developers create text-based user interfaces (TUIs) with mouse support, while Glow renders Markdown docs directly in the terminal. Additional products include VHS for recording CLI screencasts, Pop for sending email (with attachments) from the shell, and Mods, an AI assistant that pipes large-language-model output into command pipelines. The company is developing an enterprise offering that is already in private beta and is being adopted inside large organizations such as AWS, Shopify, Nvidia and GitHub. Charm employs about eight full-time staff across the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Germany. With fresh capital, the team plans to roll out the next generation of its platform and pursue “sustainable open-source software development and ethical monetization.”

  • Highlight

    Participated · Seed · Aug 2023

Highlight offers a publicly launched, open-source monitoring platform that stitches together full-stack error monitoring, front-end session replay, and logging to give engineers a single view across the application stack. The product is built on the OpenTelemetry (OTel) observability framework and supports integration via Highlight’s SDKs or by sending OTel directly. Before the public launch the codebase attracted significant traction—more than 5,000 GitHub stars and over 5,000 developers—and early customers including Beeper, Aurora, Focal, FlowClub and others. The company says its tooling speeds root-cause analysis by combining alerts, session replays, and logs so teams avoid manual data collation. Highlight plans to expand SDK support across more environments and languages, introduce tracing and metrics products, and invest in community engagement to maintain its open-source roots. The company recently raised an $8M seed to fund product development, compatibility work, and community initiatives.

  • HUSSLUP

    Led · Seed · Dec 2022

HUSSLUP is a networked marketplace mobile app that connects creative talent in media and entertainment with companies looking to staff them. Its platform aggregates a large pool of qualified candidates searchable by specific criteria and enables instant vetting; it is currently available in an invite-only beta. The company reports over 4,000 creatives signed up, has facilitated 15,000 connections, and works with more than 40 studios, production companies and professional organizations. HUSSLUP's mission is to democratize and diversify access to the industry, and about 65% of current members self-identify as diverse in at least one category. The founding team is led by Founder and CEO H Schuster and CTO Alex Maghen, and the company completed the 2021 Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs accelerator powered by Techstars. It plans to use new funding to hire core team members, add more robust search and reporting features for production partners, increase marketing, and scale beyond the beta.

  • Capitol AI

    Participated · Seed · Nov 2022

Capitol builds the Data Stories Platform, an AI-driven interface that sits on top of existing analytics to generate visual, guided analytics and surface insights for business users. The platform is designed to let non-data-scientist healthcare users instantly combat fraud, spot cost savings, improve member engagement, and improve quality of care. Capitol says it eliminates the need for data scientists for many decisions by automatically finding insights and creating visual stories that guide business teams. The company will use the $10 million seed financing to advance the platform, transition out of stealth, and drive adoption in the healthcare market. Already a top three U.S. health insurer is slated to deploy the technology this year. Capitol is headquartered in New York City and its founding team includes experts from Airbnb and Signify Health.
