Overview
Clearmatics adapts the Ethereum blockchain to build "Decentralised Clearing Networks," private, member‑owned networks that automate the lifecycle of financial derivative contracts without third parties. Founded in 2015, the firm is the technology provider to the Utility Settlement Coin (USC) project, a consortium of 17 banks creating a digital cash instrument collateralized by central bank money. Clearmatics counts Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin as an adviser and partnered with Axoni on a demonstration that originated a derivatives contract on one enterprise blockchain and settled it on another. The company currently has over 30 staff split between headquarters in London and Silicon Valley and plans to expand its team with the new funding. With the Series A proceeds it intends to launch a Protocol Provider service next year to support the USC project's go‑to‑market. Samir Khosla of TNF Capital will join the board following the investment.
