Coagulo Medical Technologies is an MIT‑born startup that has developed a rapid, ultra‑portable point‑of‑care device for comprehensive coagulation diagnostics. The device uses a proprietary approach to parse the entire coagulation cascade, pinpoint deficiencies or inhibition of specific coagulation factors, and quantify their effect on clotting time using only drops of blood within about 10 minutes. Coagulo positions its test as providing clinically actionable, sample‑to‑insight results at the bedside and to supplement traditional tests like prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time. The company licensed technology from MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital and was founded in 2018. Coagulo is based out of Alexandria LaunchLabs. Its point‑of‑care device is not yet approved or cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; the company says it will accelerate delivery of the platform and meet urgent needs highlighted by COVID‑19.
