Confirm.io is a Boston-based mobile identity authentication company offering RESTful APIs and mobile SDKs to authenticate government-issued IDs. The company raised $4.0 million in a July seed round to launch a suite of mobile ID verification and multi-factor authentication products and support a private beta. Its API verifies IDs from images captured by mobile cameras using advanced forensic checks, completes verification in six seconds, and requires no human review. The product is designed with privacy in mind and does not require storage of personally identifiable information. Use cases include account creation and onboarding, P2P identity checks, fraud escalation, banking and legal transactions. The roadmap includes developing real-time multi-factor identity authentication techniques to follow ID verification. Confirm has piloted its API with major mobile and internet companies and acquired forensic ID firm Advanced ID Detection to accelerate its footprint in government, law enforcement and retail.
