Overview
Connect Earth offers an API that collects and supplies carbon and environmental data tied to financial transactions. Its platform has been integrated with banks including KBC Bank and New York's Bank Purely and with fintechs such as Cogni, Ribbon, and Jules. The company positions its infrastructure to help financial institutions measure and reduce customer emissions and to meet disclosure requirements like TCFD and SFDR. Founded in 2021 by Alexander Lempka and Nick Carmont, Connect Earth says its product can improve customer acquisition, engagement, and retention for banks. It closed a $5.6 million Seed round to scale its environmental data offering faster across Europe and to support expansion into the US. Management states the funding will enable rapid product scaling and increased global impact. Connect Earth builds infrastructure to make climate action standard by consolidating and harmonising sustainability data and exposing it through APIs and developer toolkits. Its flagship API calculates the carbon impact of consumers and companies based on spending in line with carbon accounting standards and is already being used by banks and fintechs. The company runs a proof-of-concept with the Elevator Lab Partnership Program powered by Raiffeisen Bank International and works with US challenger bank Cogni to engage Gen Z users. It also offers a climate data engine for climatetech businesses to enrich company, supplier, and product data with carbon insights and is offering early access to those APIs. Connect Earth closed its first funding round of €1.6 million and has grown the team to 10 employees with plans to reach 15 by Q3 2022. The fresh capital will be used to gain traction and expand the data offering across Europe and the US.
