Overview
CY Vision develops software-based holographic display technology that produces full-color 3D augmented-reality visuals across a wide range of lighting and virtual distances. The company’s displays are designed to function from bright sunlight to dark stormy conditions and project virtual objects from in-cabin distances to infinity. Led by CEO Orkun Oguz, CY Vision focuses on automotive AR HUD systems that present navigation cues, hazard and lane warnings, and virtual assistance across the driver’s field of view. The newly raised capital supports the launch of the company’s production 3D AR HUD systems. The company is based in San Jose, California and Istanbul, Turkey. Financially, the company announced an additional $5M in funding in July 2020. CY Vision is a vision systems and applications company based in Silicon Valley that develops computational holographic display technology for AR and VR head-worn displays. Its patent-protected computational holographic technology, combined with pupil tracking, is designed to mimic natural eye/brain function and present true 3D information with full visual depth cues. The company says this approach aims to improve visual comfort and enable safer, more comfortable long-term viewing for AR/VR users. CY Vision was established as a spinoff from a Koc University lab in 2016 and was co-founded by optics and MEMS professor Hakan Urey and CEO Orkun Oguz. The company plans to use its recent funding to further develop the technology and help accelerate AR and VR adoption for enterprises and consumers. CY Vision recently completed a Series A funding round totaling $7 million.
