Overview

Datasembly provides real-time product pricing, promotions, and assortment data and software to retailers and CPG brands. It collects hyper-local, real-time data from tens of thousands of retail, grocery and QSR locations across North America and has captured over three years of data through a proprietary data collection engine. The company says it collects and normalizes billions of data points weekly and serves some of the largest and most competitive CPGs and retailers. Datasembly recently launched a Product Matching service with a proprietary match maintenance engine to keep product matching collections fresh. The new funding will be used to scale the business in a capital-efficient manner and to bring new tools to market quickly. Co-founder and CEO Ben Reich said the company has continued to grow and scale despite a cooler funding environment. Datasembly offers a platform that delivers hyper-local, real-time product pricing, promotions, and assortment data for retailers and CPG brands. Its proprietary data collection engine captures over three years of historical data and collects information from tens of thousands of retail, grocery and QSR locations across North America, covering online and brick-and-mortar sources. The company counts three of the top ten CPG brands and two of the top five regional and national retailers among its customers. Datasembly’s web app surfaces immediate visibility and insights to help clients respond to market changes and pricing dynamics. Management plans to use new funding to accelerate growth in engineering, sales operations, and sales and marketing strategies, and to continue introducing new products and improving insight delivery. The company recently secured new capital to support that expansion and added two board members to support its growth. Datasembly provides real-time data on product availability and pricing for consumer packaged goods brands and retailers by scraping retail data at massive scale. Founded by Ben Reich and Dan Gallagher after working at a retail analytics firm, the company aims to eliminate errors in pricing data that lead to poor business decisions. Datasembly went through the 500 Startups accelerator and previously raised a small seed round. It already counts three of the nation’s largest CPG brands and two of the top five regional and national retailers among its customers. With a $10.3 million Series A led by Craft Ventures, Datasembly plans to expand sales, marketing and product development. As part of the round, David Sacks of Craft Ventures will take a seat on Datasembly’s board.
