dcbel develops the r16 Home Energy Station, a home energy solution that combines bidirectional EV charging with a solar and stationary battery inverter and built-in artificial intelligence. The r16 is the first in a planned suite of products intended to help homeowners reduce everyday energy costs. dcbel says it empowers homeowners to avoid blackouts, save money when prices peak, and earn money while contributing to grid stability by leveraging renewable assets. The company was founded in 2015 and is led by CEO Marc-Andre Forget. It is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Dcbel develops the r16, an all-in-one home charger that can power both a user's house and electric vehicle and includes smart functionality that learns user habits to allocate energy. The company secured an additional $7.5M in growth capital from Silicon Valley Bank to spearhead production of the r16. Manufacturing will take place in Quebec, with additional manufacturing facilities planned for the EU and US in 2022.
