  • Mechasys

    Led · Series A · Aug 2025

Mechasys produces a patented XR Projector — a laser projector that projects construction layout plans with millimeter accuracy to enhance site efficiency. The company was founded in 2018 and is based in Montréal, where it plans to continue manufacturing despite tariff-related challenges. Its technology is already deployed at roughly 200 construction sites globally. Mechasys expects about $2.5 million in sales this year and projects $13 million by 2026. The startup intends to use new funding to scale production, triple its workforce, and expand into international markets. The product aims to streamline construction processes by improving layout accuracy and reducing onsite rework. Mechasys develops a projected-reality laser layout solution used on construction sites to improve accuracy and usability. The company reports more than 50 projects across North America, Europe, and Asia. It recently secured new funding led by Great Wave Ventures (formerly Agya Ventures) alongside corporate investors. Named corporate investors include the TOKYU CONSTRUCTION Co., Ltd. Innovation Fund (managed by Global Brain Corporation), Toda Corporation, and Ogawa Denki, plus existing backers. A consortium of general contractors in Japan is investing in Mechasys’s North American technology to help address labor shortages. The company says the strategic backing will enhance construction speed and operational efficiency.

  • Mosaic Manufacturing

    Led · Equity · Sep 2024

Mosaic Manufacturing is a Canadian 3D printing hardware company founded in 2014 that builds the Array 3D printing ecosystem and Element HT printers for automated, high-volume FDM production. The Array pairs four Element HT printers with Palette X material handling to enable up to eight filaments mid-print and includes automatic part removal to keep systems running with under 10% downtime. Mosaic says its systems can print engineering materials such as PEEK and Ultem and has shipped over 15,000 hardware products to customers in logistics, consumer apparel, defense, education, and contract manufacturing. The company raised C$28 million in a financing round to expand global adoption and operational growth of its automated FDM printers on the factory floor. Proceeds will be used to develop partnerships, deepen factory presence, and accelerate supply chain resilience amid economic and geopolitical challenges. Mosaic previously received backing from Techstars, Real Ventures, and SOAN and support from organizations including DDQIC, NGen, IRAP, MaRS, OCE, Venture Lab, CTA, and Canada Makes. Mosaic Manufacturing's core product is the Palette, an add-on that produces multi-colored 3D prints by cutting colored filament snippets from multiple spools and melting them together inside the device. A sensor tracks filament position to place colors accurately, allowing layered color, gradients, and melded transitions though it is not true full-color printing. The company demonstrated the device at TechCrunch Disrupt and invited coverage at its Montreal offices. Mosaic sold the Palette via a Kickstarter campaign that significantly exceeded its goal and offered an early-bird price of $850. The team planned to ship units in January 2016. The article does not report other financial metrics or additional funding rounds.

  • Parity

    Led · Series B · Jun 2024

Parity delivers HVAC optimization as a service for multifamily residential and hospitality properties using control automation algorithms, real-time monitoring, proactive technical support, and savings verification. Led by founder and CEO Brad Pilgrim, the company guarantees automatic energy and cost savings while reducing onsite staff workloads. Its platform eliminates energy waste, optimizes demand response revenue, and operates heating, cooling, and ventilation systems efficiently every day. Parity has delivered measured energy savings across more than 65 million square feet of multifamily and hospitality real estate. The company raised $19M in a Series B and plans to use the funds to expand geographically across the United States, pursue new verticals including senior and student housing, and continue rolling out products and services to drive automated building efficiency and grid interactivity. Parity provides an algorithm-driven Energy Management Platform that autonomously optimizes HVAC equipment performance, guarantees energy savings, and maintains resident comfort. The platform is capital-light and non-intrusive, designed to integrate with a property’s existing operating system. Parity’s technology reduces capital investment needs for building owners and helps management teams make progress on ESG targets. Founded in 2016 and led by CEO Brad Pilgrim, the company initially focused on the Canadian multifamily market and grew to 150 assets nationwide. Parity entered the U.S. market in 2020, launching with over two dozen New York apartment buildings. The company plans to scale its Canadian operations and expand the reach of its SaaS HVAC control technology throughout the United States. Parity offers cloud-based, building-agnostic software that connects to any operating system or hardware and uses AI/deep learning to monitor and optimize HVAC, hot/cold water, piping, and air systems. The platform acts like a "smart thermostat" for entire building HVAC systems, ingesting previously unavailable data, running machine-learning algorithms, and writing setpoints back to the building control logic. Its capabilities include predictive weather control and algorithms that deliver 25–35% savings on heating and cooling and roughly 30–40% in overall energy savings, producing average annual cost savings of $50,000–$120,000 per building. Parity was founded in 2015 and initially bootstrapped, recording about $1M in sales its first year and just under $3M in bookings and sales in its second year. The company currently has around 15 employees and plans to expand its US presence—targeting New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and other Northeastern urban markets—while growing the team to more than 35 in the coming year. Additional funds will be used to scale sales and marketing, increase the operating and development team, and open offices in New York, Chicago, and Boston.
