Overview
DEARhealth, launched in 2012 by CEO Daniel Hommes, is a health‑AI spin-out from UCLA with operations in Los Angeles and Amsterdam. Its core product is an AI-powered platform that combines medical knowledge and patient data to predict the best care pathway with the lowest risks for chronic conditions including IBD, pain management, liver diseases, ovarian cancer, chronic kidney disease and low back pain. The platform integrates with Electronic Medical Record systems and provides an EMR-integrated application layer for providers to manage patients and shift tasks among specialists, primary care physicians, care coordinators and case managers. Patients are engaged through mobile apps and supervised modules for adherence, mental support, nutritional support, wellness and education. The company plans to use the funding to scale implementation to more hospitals and to expand operations in Europe, opening a European headquarters in Amsterdam. Current goals include validating the UCLA-based approach with additional US and European healthcare providers and planned 2019 deployments in seven European hospitals (four in The Netherlands) and with multiple US hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.
