Overview
Decent Land Labs is developing WeaveVM, a sovereign layer-1 blockchain that pairs EVM compute with Arweave's permanent storage to address high on-chain storage costs. WeaveVM supports deployment and interaction with existing EVM and Arweave contracts via ERC-7689 smart blobs, targeting use cases like fully onchain gamefi, socialfi, and real-world integrations. The project is building interoperability with Arweave's compute layer ao, including the first EVM-to-ao bridge, and launched an EVM data indexer on ao in May. The team includes active open source contributors to the Ethereum ecosystem, including to the reth codebase upon which WeaveVM is built. Founded in 2021 and operating from London, Decent Land Labs says it has a track record of building protocols that leverage Arweave's permanent storage and expand the permaweb market. In June 2024 the company secured $3M to accelerate WeaveVM development, expand EVM expertise, fund ecosystem incentives, and increase its rate of growth.
