.lumen is a Cluj-Napoca–based deep-tech startup founded in 2020 that develops Pedestrian Autonomous Driving (PAD AI) technology to enhance human mobility. Its flagship product, the .lumen Glasses for the Blind, enables visually impaired users to navigate independently using AI-driven perception and guidance. Leveraging the same PAD AI stack, the company is now leading a consortium to create humanoid and quadruped robots capable of performing last-mile urban deliveries on sidewalks. The three-year PABLO project aims to deliver a full hardware–software platform, generate new patents, and produce at least three additional R&D jobs. Financially, .lumen secured a €5 million funding round in January 2025 and, more recently, an €11 million public grant, demonstrating a mix of private and non-dilutive capital backing. These resources position the company to address both accessibility and sustainable logistics markets while strengthening Romania’s presence in European robotics R&D.
