Munich-based driveblocks builds a perception and sensor-fusion platform that combines multiple cameras and LiDAR to generate a 3D view of unstructured environments, guiding autonomous or driver-assistance functions for off-road vehicles in agriculture, construction, mining, and defence. The system functions without pre-existing maps and can act as a GNSS-independent or redundant solution, using a hybrid mix of deep learning and explainable algorithms designed to meet safety-certification standards. Founders Dr Alexander Wischnewski and Dr Stephan Matz spun the company out of their award-winning autonomous racing research at the Technical University of Munich. driveblocks differentiates itself by pre-training AI models across verticals and refining them quickly for specific vehicles, allowing embedded deployment on production-grade hardware. The firm plans to run production pilots with OEMs by 2026 and to prioritise use cases requiring minimal safety approvals to accelerate commercialisation. Proceeds from recent funding will expand hiring in commercial, operations, and R&D. Including the latest round, the company has secured €7.5 million in total funding to date.
