Founded in 2021 by Apoorv Shaligram and Uttam Kumar Sen, Bengaluru-based e-TRNL Energy is building advanced lithium-ion and emerging chemistry battery cells through a chemistry-agnostic, physics-based design approach. The company’s first commercial product will use LFP chemistry, with roadmap extensions into LMFP and sodium-ion technologies. e-TRNL operates a 20,000 sq. ft. R&D and early manufacturing facility and has secured two patents with additional filings in process. The startup’s technology targets improved safety, rapid charging, extended cycle life, and higher energy density while remaining compatible with scalable manufacturing. Capital from the current round will fund completion of product development, performance and safety validation, and demonstration of domestic manufacturing capability. e-TRNL plans to commission a 250 MWh pilot manufacturing plant by 2027 and eventually expand capacity to 2 GWh. Financial performance metrics have not yet been disclosed as the company is still in the product-development stage.
