Overview
Eggtronic develops mixed-signal controller integrated circuits and power-conversion and wireless-power transfer solutions aimed at high power-density and sustainable applications. The company completed in-house development of its ICs and launched an ICs division in 2020, producing its first microchips since 2021. Eggtronic holds more than 320 international patents and reports millions of units shipped to date. The new funding is intended to support mass production, double the size of its global team, accelerate its semiconductor development roadmap, and expand research and engineering resources. The company was founded in 2012 and has offices in San Francisco, Modena, Taipei, and Guangzhou. Its technologies target reduced energy use, smaller product size, and enabling high-power wireless transfer with efficiency comparable to corded adapters. Eggtronic designs power electronics and wireless charging products and is developing data-over-power technologies intended for both consumer markets and B2B IC customers. It sells consumer chargers (including a sleek laptop charger and stone-shaped wireless chargers) and makes power-electronics components and white-labeled products for other brands. The company plans to scale by building an integrated circuits division at its research laboratories to produce ICs other manufacturers can use. Management says consumer and white-labeled products generate revenue that is reinvested into R&D to advance its capacitive wireless charging roadmap. Eggtronic has demonstrated capacitive wireless charging and data-over-power demos (smartphone in 2015, TV in 2017, two laptops in 2020) and claims the tech can match USB 3 speeds wirelessly. It operates offices and production facilities in the U.S., Italy and China and has filed several patents around capacitive power converters.
