Overview
Endex says it has created the first AI agent tool for Microsoft Excel that lives in the spreadsheet and assists with data processing, financial tasks, and memo writing. The company claims the agent can carry out hour-long tasks and aims to provide structured thinking and deep analysis for finance professionals. Endex is powered by OpenAI's reasoning models, according to OpenAI's blog post. CEO Tarun Amasa, a Thiel Fellowship recipient, has positioned the product as a way to give firms access to teams of digital analysts to augment time-intensive workflows. The team spent a large portion of the prior year in OpenAI's San Francisco office and has offered limited early invites to users who comment on the company's posts. Endex raised $14 million in a funding round led by OpenAI's startup fund, and the company faces uncertainty about how Microsoft — both an investor in and competitor to OpenAI — will receive the tool.
