Engineered Carbon Solutions is a Norwich, CT–based clean tech company that has developed a hybrid fuel from recycled materials. Its Frog City Fuel brand pellets are made from recycled paper, waste coal and biodiesel and serve as a substitute for existing wood pellets as an alternative heating fuel. The pellets are compatible with existing home heating pellet stoves and boilers. The company is led by CEO Michael Curtis and CTO Joel Douglas. In August 2013 it raised $150K in funding provided by Connecticut Innovations via its Pre-Seed Fund. The company markets the fuel under the Frog City Fuel brand.
