Overview

Enterin is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on repairing the dysfunctional gut–brain axis in patients with neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases. Its lead compound, ENT-01, displaces membrane-bound α‑synuclein aggregates from enteric nerve cells and seeks to improve neural signaling between the gut and the brain. A second compound, ENT-03, increases insulin sensitivity via central mechanisms and acutely normalized blood sugar in diabetic mice; ENT-03 is being developed for diabetes, obesity, and Alzheimer’s disease. The company announced plans to begin studies in humans in Q1 2023. Financially, Enterin reported $6 million in convertible note funding as an initial tranche of a program of up to $20 million. The financing includes investment from Voloridge Investment Management and David Vogel, who has joined Enterin’s Board of Directors. Enterin develops a novel drug approach aimed at repairing a dysfunctional gut–brain axis in patients with neurodegenerative disease. Its lead compound, ENT-01, displaces membrane-bound alpha-synuclein aggregates from enteric nervous system nerve cells to improve neural signaling between the gut and the brain in preclinical models of Parkinson's disease. The company is progressing ENT-01 through clinical trials focused on reversing constipation in Parkinson's patients and is completing an ongoing Phase 2 study. Enterin plans to use new funds to complete that Phase 2 study, further study the role of alpha-synuclein in PD pathology and begin exploring other indications. Leadership includes Founder, Chairman and CEO Michael Zasloff and Co-Founder, President and Chief Medical Officer Denise Barbut. The company is based in Philadelphia, PA.
