EpiEndo Pharmaceuticals

Bjargargata 1, Reykjavík, 102, Iceland

Overview

EpiEndo Pharmaceuticals focuses on chronic respiratory diseases by targeting epithelial function with a new class of orally available macrolides called Barriolides. Its lead candidate, glasmacinal (EP395), demonstrated good tolerability, reduced neutrophilic inflammation, and no detectable impact on the lung microbiome in a completed Phase 2a COPD trial, supporting its low antimicrobial-resistance profile. The company aims to launch a larger Phase 2b exacerbation-reduction study and must complete key chemical, manufacturing and control (CMC) activities beforehand. A recently secured €9 million convertible bond provides the capital to fund this work and additional manufacturing efforts. EpiEndo positions glasmacinal as the first potential oral therapy that is both anti-inflammatory and host-defence enhancing for COPD patients who continue to experience exacerbations despite standard of care. The WHO estimates COPD will impose a global economic burden of $4.8 trillion by 2030, underscoring the market opportunity. The newest financing attracted both new private and institutional investors, reflecting external confidence in the company’s first-in-class approach.
