EpiEP has developed the EpiAccess interventional platform intended to enable safe, reliable, minimally invasive access to the pericardium for treatment of certain cardiac arrhythmias. Its initial product, the EpiAccess system, is being tested in first-in-man trials in Europe. The company completed animal trials at the Mayo Clinic in early summer 2011 prior to beginning human studies. EpiEP's technology measures a unique pressure-frequency waveform to guide pericardial access, and its intellectual property comprises four patents pending and two provisional patents licensed from the University of Virginia Patent Foundation. The company relocated to New Haven, Connecticut from Virginia in 2010 and its team includes leaders from the electrophysiology community and experienced business managers.
