Overview
Equal1 positions itself as a “quantum semiconductor company,” building quantum processors on conventional CMOS processes so they can be fabricated in existing foundries and deployed without dilution refrigerators or specialized facilities. Its flagship product, Bell-1, is a rack-mounted quantum server designed to slide into standard data-center infrastructure and is already shipping to customers, including an installation planned for the European Space Agency’s Space HPC Center in Italy. The company’s UnityQ processor family follows a quantum-system-on-chip approach that integrates quantum and classical components on a single piece of silicon to cut cost, size, and complexity. Equal1 argues that this architecture will help alleviate power and cost constraints facing classical computing as AI workloads grow. Proceeds from the latest financing will fund broader deployments across high-performance computing centers, increase on-chip qubit counts, scale manufacturing through foundry partners, and expand headcount. Including the new raise, Equal1 has secured more than $85 million in total funding to date.
