Overview
Eventbrite, founded in 2006, is an event technology platform used by thousands of organizers to boost ticket sales, promote and manage events, handle onsite operations, and analyze results across multiple sales channels. Customers include Tribeca Film Festival, Newport Folk and Jazz Festivals, Maker Faire, and Wanderlust. The company has 11 offices in 10 countries and is backed by investors including Sequoia Capital, Tiger Global and T. Rowe Price. On 09/10/2017 Eventbrite received a $25M strategic investment from Square. As part of the partnership, Square will be Eventbrite’s payment processing partner for online and mobile payments, covering paid events, tickets, registrations, merchandise sales, donations and related products or services. Square will also provide in-person payment capabilities via its hardware and Point of Sale software and deliver omni-channel reporting and management to give event creators a unified view of sales across channels. Eventbrite operates an event registration and ticketing platform that helps organizers sell tickets and manage live experiences. The company says it has processed more than 100 million tickets since its founding in 2006, representing $1.5 billion in cumulative sales. One-third of those sales occurred in the prior nine months, indicating recent acceleration in transaction volume. Eventbrite raised $60 million in new funding to scale globally while remaining focused on users, according to CEO Kevin Hartz. Tiger Global Management led the round and new investor T. Rowe Price participated. Tiger Global praised Eventbrite as a sustainable business that captures real value and uncovers new sources of revenue at low cost. Eventbrite is an online ticketing platform that helps organizers sell and manage tickets and host events. To date it has helped over 120,000 event organizers in 150 countries host more than half a million events. Over 10 million people have attended an Eventbrite-ticketed event, and the company is on track to process nearly half a billion dollars in gross ticket sales this year. Last year Eventbrite sold 11 million tickets for $207 million in gross sales. The company has deepened social integrations, notably a Facebook integration that now drives more traffic to Eventbrite than Google. It plans to use new funding for product development, global expansion and scaling to larger events. Eventbrite is an online ticket seller that processes both paid and free event tickets while building features to help users discover events. The company has processed 7.5 million tickets this year and tickets sold through Eventbrite are on track to double this year to $200 million. About half of the tickets processed are free; Eventbrite only takes a fee on paid tickets, and the average ticket price is $60. Only about 15% of gross ticket sales currently come from outside the U.S., and management plans to expand internationally. The company has added social discovery features (showing Facebook friends' events) and reports Facebook recently passed Google as its largest single source of traffic. CEO Kevin Hartz said the business had roughly $5 million in the bank from prior rounds and intends to expand aggressively with new capital. Eventbrite provides online event management and ticketing services for organizers of any type of event. The platform is free for free events and charges 2.5% of the ticket price plus $0.99 per paid ticket. The company has proven popular with organizers and is used by publications such as TechCrunch for events. Eventbrite competes in a crowded space that includes Amiando and TicketLeap. According to filings and company confirmation, Eventbrite has raised funding bringing its total to over $8 million. Sequoia Capital recently invested in the company and its partner Roelof Botha has joined Eventbrite’s board.
