Exactly.ai uses generative AI to enable artists and illustrators to train models on their own artwork so the resulting algorithm and inferences belong to the creator. The platform combines a foundational model from Picsart with Exactly.ai’s own algorithm to understand and reproduce an artist’s style. Artists have uploaded several million images to the service from about 40,000 registered users, and the company also incorporates over a million CC0 museum images into its training data. Exactly.ai charges subscription fees to commercial illustrators and positions the product to help creators scale output, sell or license work to clients such as media outlets and ad agencies. The startup was founded in 2022 by Tonia Samsonova, a former journalist who previously exited The Question to Yandex. The company says its technology increases artists’ ability to earn income, claiming illustrators can quadruple their income by using the service.
