Eyebot was founded in 2021 and is based in Boston. With the new funding, the company plans to scale kiosk deployment and expand its team across product, clinical operations, and commercial growth. Eyebot builds five-foot, self-serve vision-testing kiosks that use computer vision to automatically scan eyes and extract eyeglass or contact lens prescriptions in roughly 90 seconds. Tests are finalized by teledoctors within 24 hours; the technology is registered with the FDA. Consumers pay $30 for an exam, or receive the exam free if they purchase glasses from an Eyebot partner brand; Eyebot plans to earn commissions and rent terminals to eyewear merchants. The kiosks will be placed in shopping centers, grocery stores and pharmacies, and the company plans an initial rollout in New England starting in October. Eyebot cannot perform initial contact-lens fittings but can update existing prescriptions. The company is finalizing partnership agreements with large eyeglass and contact-lens merchants and intends to use new capital to expand to other geographies.
