FA Bio (formerly FungiAlert) develops microbial bioproducts — including biocontrols, biostimulants and biofertilisers — intended to replace chemical inputs, restore soil health and sustainably increase crop yields. The company uses its SporSenZ technology and microbial discovery platform to find and collect microbes for disease control, plant growth promotion and biofertiliser activities. Its SporSenZ approach shortens development timelines to about 18 months versus up to six years previously. FA Bio is led by CEO Dr Angela de Manzanos Guinot and is based at the Rothamsted Research Centre in Harpenden. The company plans to commercialise its technology, continue ongoing research work, and expand its team using the new funding.
