Founded in 2014 by Claudio Ribeiro, Federal operates contemporary cafés that serve premium brunch dishes and specialty coffee in a relaxed, community-focused setting. The company currently runs three sites in Manchester and one site in Leeds, the latter opened in December 2025 and created 15 jobs. Federal’s concept targets the fast-growing daytime socialising market, emphasising quality food, welcoming ambiance, and consistent customer experience. Backed by strong brand loyalty, the business plans to accelerate its regional rollout to reach 18 sites by 2030, which is expected to generate up to 250 jobs. To support this expansion, hospitality veteran Karen Jones has been appointed Chairperson, bringing experience from Café Rouge, Deliveroo, Hawksmoor, Whitbread and others. With a proven model and supportive leadership, Federal aims to replicate its successful operating playbook across new locations. No revenue or profitability figures were disclosed in the announcement.
