Overview
FELIQS is a Fukuoka, Japan–based biotechnology company founded in 2019 that develops first-in-class small molecule therapeutics targeting oxidized lipids for rare pediatric retinal diseases. Its lead program, FLQ-101, is a once-daily oral or intravenous solution designed to enhance physiological retinal vascularization and protect against inflammation and abnormal neovascularization to prevent retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). The company received FDA Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations for FLQ-101 in 2024. FELIQS plans to initiate the Phase 1b/2 tROPhy-1 study in the United States in summer 2025. It completed a $9 million Series A to accelerate clinical development and expand its operational and clinical development teams. Proceeds will also be used to strengthen collaborative research initiatives in the U.S. and build a broader pipeline of targeted pediatric ophthalmology treatments.
