FIGUR8

2 Park Plaza, Suite 605, Boston, MA, 02116, United States

Overview

Figur8 develops the bioMotion Assessment Platform (bMAP) to produce objective data for musculoskeletal (MSK) care and injury recovery. The company positions itself as a market leader for standardizing MSK health and injury recovery data. bMAP empowers individuals to monitor and optimize injury recovery and physical performance, while enabling providers, patients and payers to access data for advanced insights and more personalized care. The platform's objective measurements help providers communicate symptoms, diagnosis and progress, and help payers improve claims, underwriting and risk management. Figur8 intends to use the recent funding to drive growth and adoption of bMAP. The company is led by founder and CEO Nan‑Wei Gong and is based in Boston, MA. FIGUR8 has developed a wearable musculoskeletal diagnostics system that captures over one million unique data points from a single movement to pinpoint the source and severity of soft-tissue injuries and provide real-time recovery visibility. The company’s solution delivers quantitative MSK assessments in minutes by users of varying clinical expertise and is positioned as a screening alternative to MRIs and X-rays for soft-tissue symptoms. Technology was developed over years by MIT engineers in collaboration with Mass General Brigham clinicians. FIGUR8 recently expanded product offerings to target the low back, neck, lumbar spine and knee. Management says the product is intended for deployment with major health systems, government organizations and large employers. The company emphasizes adoption across clinical and non-athletic settings, citing interest from clinicians and users including professional athletes. Financially, FIGUR8 announced a new financing to support these deployments and product expansion. Figur8 is a diagnostics platform that captures three-dimensional skeletal movement and muscle output to provide objective measures of musculoskeletal performance and recovery. Its portable system, developed with MGH Sports Science Lab and MIT Media Lab researchers, enables clinicians to assess cause, effect and quality of movement. The platform quantifies micrometer-precision signals of muscle activity and joint mobility to produce over one million unique data points from a single movement assessment, which are analyzed by algorithms to generate actionable biomechanical insights. In minutes clinicians can establish movement-health baselines, diagnose dysfunction, identify injury risk, optimize exercise routines and monitor progress. The company is working with elite athletes, teams, training facilities and major occupational and physical therapy clinics. Figur8 is led by CEO Dr. Nan-Wei Gong and recently closed seed funding to support its work.
