Filo is an instant, on-demand tutoring platform founded in October 2020 by Imbesat Ahmad and Shadman Anwer with a mission to democratize access to high-quality teachers. The app connects students to one-to-one video calls with tutors who can speak in their mother tongue and aims to provide timely interventions during self-study. In a short period it reports over 35,000 students completing 1.5 million minutes of sessions and claims tutor access within roughly 60 seconds. The company says it will use the new funding to scale services to millions of students and significantly grow its tutor base. Filo is positioning itself to help students across India prepare for school exams and competitive tests such as JEE and NEET by reaching qualified tutors on demand. The platform has grown largely through organic, word-of-mouth adoption.
