Firefly provides a platform that reduces school administration and lets teachers, students and parents share lesson plans, assign and review homework both in and out of the classroom. The product was first developed by co-founders Simon Hay and Joe Mathewson while preparing for their GCSEs. Today the company supports more than a million students, teachers and parents across 40 countries and holds a leading position in UK Independent senior schools. Firefly plans to use the new funding to expand globally while further developing its presence in UK Independent and State schools. The business intends to invest £3m in research and development to diversify its product suite, including tools to give teachers, management and parents a real-time view of student progress. The company also plans to strengthen its team, create 20 new jobs over the next year, and build more partnerships and integrations with other EdTech products.
