403-40 Hanna Ave., Toronto, ON, M6K 0C3, Canada
Overview
Flashfood operates a mobile app that lists discounted food items nearing their best-before date, allowing customers to purchase in-app and pick up from a Flashfood zone at participating grocers. The company reports it has saved shoppers over $100 million on grocery bills, that regular shoppers save more than $540 per year on average, and that it has diverted more than 34 million pounds of food from landfills. Flashfood partners with numerous grocery chains across Canada and the U.S., including Loblaw, Giant, Giant Eagle, Stop & Shop, Tops, Price Rite Marketplace and others. The app is available across Canadian provinces and in many U.S. states, and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Flashfood says it will use new funding to expand its U.S. presence, grow its footprint with new and existing grocery partners, and invest in its technology to reach more consumers. The company was founded in March 2016 and is headquartered in Toronto.
