Overview
Flipside Crypto is a Boston-based blockchain analytics platform that analyzes networks via a technique it calls “chainwalking” to show impacts of on- and off-chain activity. The company offers free access to its data and runs analytics challenges that pay participants bounties upon completion. Flipside reported paying out $2 million in bounties last year and produced 30,000 bounties in March, with plans to exceed that number in April. It has a current headcount of 66 employees and plans to grow to 85 by year-end. The company says it will use new capital to further develop its educational platform and expand hiring. Flipside positions itself as infrastructure for token portfolio research and a training network for researchers, data scientists, programmers, and enthusiasts. Flipside Crypto is a Boston, MA–based business intelligence platform serving cryptocurrency and blockchain organizations. Led by CEO Dave Balter, it offers the Chainwalker Blockchain Parsing Service to extract and decode blockchain data and deliver insights on on- and off-chain activity. Portions of its data are distributed as the FCAS (Fundamental Crypto Asset Score), which assesses the fundamental health of more than 520 cryptocurrencies and is distributed via partners such as CoinMarketCap, Messari, MarketWatch on StockTwits and TheStreet. The company has parsed more than 25 blockchains (including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Algorand, KIN, AION, DASH, Ontology, VeChain and Steem), and over 75 cryptocurrency organizations have signed up for its free Flipside Analytics suite. More than 2,500 customers utilize FCAS Tracker to track FCAS and its subcomponents. Flipside raised $7.1M in seed financing and intends to use the funds to expand the team and augment its data science and analytics capabilities. Flipside Crypto builds proprietary data models and algorithms to evaluate liquid crypto assets and operates a series of investment portfolios. Its core products include algorithm-driven investment vehicles, cryptocurrency acquisition services, digital walleting and custody, plus community tools and investor portfolio dashboards. The company launched in mid-2017 and is led by CEO Dave Balter with Jim Myers and Eric Stone. It recently launched six investment vehicles that use algorithms to identify diversified baskets of 14–16 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum as well as various altcoins. Flipside closed a $3.4M venture capital round led by True Ventures and will use the proceeds to continue developing and refining its algorithms and expand its suite of cryptocurrency management services. It is currently accepting investments from accredited investors for its latest investment vehicles.
