FocalSpec develops sensors, 2D profilers and 3D at‑line scanners for metal, electronics, plastics and medical industries as well as for systems integrators. Its products deliver laboratory‑level measurement precision intended for online quality control and manufacturing line process optimization. Current customers include global corporations in consumer and mobile electronics, as well as the plastics and pharmaceutical industries. The company has business operations in Europe, Asia and the United States. Established in 2009 and led by Sauli Törmälä, FocalSpec plans to use the new financing to scale up operations from the present level of €1m toward dozens of millions. The company raised €3.5M from a mix of investors to support that growth.
