Flow Computing develops a companion Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) chip that sits alongside a CPU to orchestrate nanosecond-scale task movement, aiming to turn serial CPU execution into a more parallelized flow. The company says the PPU can double CPU performance instantly and—with refactoring or recompilation—yield increases up to 100x on some workloads. Flow has demonstrated the technology in FPGA-based test setups and is developing recompilation tools to help software makers optimize for PPU-enabled designs. The PPU must be integrated at the chip-design level, so the first commercial parts will require chipmaker adoption rather than retroactive deployment. Flow is a spinout of Finland’s state-backed research organization VTT; the IP is owned by Flow. The company emerged from stealth after raising €4 million in pre-seed funding.

Steady Energy develops a heat-only small modular reactor, the LDR-50, intended for district heating and industrial applications. The LDR-50 is a shipping-container-sized, underground light-water reactor producing 50 MW thermal, designed for near-100% efficiency, emission-free operation and an LCOH under €40/MWh. It features few moving parts, very low operating temperatures and pressure, and requires refueling every 2–3 years. Founded in 2023 by Tommi Nyman, Hannes Haapalahti and Petteri Tenhunen and based in Espoo, Finland, the company has 25 employees. In March 2025 Steady Energy raised €22M to consolidate its leadership in the commercial SMR market. The round was led by 92 Ventures with participation from Lifeline Ventures. Steady Energy develops an LDR-50 reactor-based heating plant intended to decarbonise energy-intensive residential and district heating. The core product is an LDR-50 reactor module with a 50 MW heat output, designed to operate around 150°C and below 10 bar. The module consists of two nested pressure vessels with an intermediate water-filled space that passively boils to transfer heat into the reactor pool if primary heat removal is compromised; the cooling does not rely on electricity or mechanical moving parts. The company was awarded a patent for the innovation in 2021. Led by CEO Tommi Nyman and spun out from VTT, Steady Energy plans to build a 1:1 scale mockup powered by electric heat to demonstrate functionality. The company aims to build the world’s first LDR-50 reactor-based heating plant by 2030 and raised seed funding to advance R&D toward that goal.

Dispelix designs and manufactures diffractive single-layer, full-color waveguide displays (DPX waveguides) for augmented reality applications. Its patented DPX waveguides aim to provide freedoms in AR design by improving image quality, performance, and efficiency. The company reports 43 granted or pending patent families that are being integrated into an increasing number of consumer products developed by OEM customers. Dispelix intends to use the new funding to expand operations and business reach and to continue developing its platform. The company’s offerings are expected to hit the market during 2023. Dispelix has locations in Finland, China and Taiwan with U.S. headquarters in San Francisco. Dispelix develops ultrathin (0.3mm) waveguide displays and full-colour Laser Beam Scanning (LBS) projection technology for all-day-wearable augmented reality glasses. Its displays claim a large eyebox and an unobstructed real-world view while delivering lightness that enables extended wearable use. The company highlights use cases ranging from consumer wearable health trackers—positioning AR glasses as a successor to smartwatches—to industrial applications such as remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and on-demand support via web-based interfaces. Dispelix said the new funding will be used to further develop its LBS projection technology and to expand customer acquisition and support worldwide. Financially, the company secured €10 million in this round, including a €5 million commitment from Flashpoint Venture Debt Fund and €5 million from undisclosed investors. Dispelix works with go-to-market partners to commercialize the technology and strengthen its IP and product portfolio.

Kuva Space builds a patented hyperspectral camera mounted on microsatellites and an AI-driven analytics platform that delivers real-time environmental insights. Its technology can distinguish nearly any material on Earth to monitor crop health, biodiversity, soil, marine conditions, and pollutants. The company plans to double its team, expand to the US market, launch its AI analytics platform, and further develop its space hardware and services. Kuva Space bills its solution via a subscription model and has secured a €5 million commercial contract from the European Commission as the sole hyperspectral data provider for the Copernicus programme. It is a NATO Arctic Challenge Innovation winner. Operationally, Kuva Space already has three satellites in orbit, will launch two more (including Hyperfield-1 in June 2024), and is planning a constellation of up to 100 satellites by 2030. Kuva Space (formerly Reaktor Space Lab) builds space-borne hyperspectral camera technology combined with AI to deliver global, daily, actionable data on ecological assets. Its small, high-performance sensors are designed to enable a cost-efficient constellation of tens of satellites, making affordable data available even to developing countries. The company offers situational awareness on agricultural policies and emissions, verification tools for bioasset carbon sequestration methods, and services intended to prevent biodiversity loss. Kuva Space says its agriculture solutions can improve crop yields up to 30% while decreasing required inputs by 15%. Future plans described in the articles include building and launching the first commercial satellites and developing the service pipeline while advancing business development. The company is positioned as a global source for actionable green data to support sustainable farming and carbon-binding decisions.

Minima Processor is a microprocessor technology company based in Oulu and Espoo, Finland. It develops a patented optimization technique that adjusts microprocessors' operating points to make digital computing more energy efficient and can be applied in almost all electronic devices. The technology is added to integrated digital computing microchips before manufacturing and is delivered and licensed to other semiconductor companies for integration into their products. Initially Minima is targeting energy-saving solutions for data processing in IoT devices, with plans to expand into other market areas in the future. The company is led by CEO Toni Soini and CTO Lauri Koskinen. Minima raised €5.5m in a two-stage seed funding round and intends to use the funds to improve the technology and to seek partners across three continents.
