Overview

FoodMarble develops the AIRE, a personal hydrogen breath test device and companion smartphone app that provides real-time breath analysis and actionable insights to help users optimize their diet. The AIRE translates clinical breath analysis technology into a handheld, at-home tracker that connects via Bluetooth. FoodMarble began as a direct-to-consumer business following a 2018 product launch and is extending its offering to assist clinicians in managing patient digestive health. The company positions the device as a way for users to identify food triggers without lengthy, highly restrictive diets. Planned uses for new funding include expansion into new markets, continued research and development, and further development of the FoodMarble AIRE. Financially, FoodMarble has closed a seed round of around €2.1 million and has also launched a Seedrs crowdfunding campaign to open additional funding to the public. FoodMarble developed AIRE, a pocket-sized digestive tracking device that analyses a user’s breath to identify which foods cause bloating, pain, constipation or diarrhoea. AIRE’s sensors measure biomarkers released when food ferments in the gut, and an accompanying app provides a searchable list showing whether specific foods are likely to be digested successfully based on readings. The company has taken more than 5,000 pre-orders for AIRE at a pre-launch price of €129, with an expected retail price of €159. FoodMarble says the product aims to empower users to manage diet-related digestive issues and to yield cost savings for over-burdened health systems. The recently raised funds are intended to help build a more powerful platform around the AIRE device. Founded in 2016 and based in Dublin, the team plans to develop its real-time personal diagnostic tools and platform further.
