Fragaria Fruits uses controlled environment agriculture and vertical farming to cultivate premium European strawberries under its flagship brand Oh! Fruits. The company claims its berries are twice as sweet as conventional Indian varieties, pesticide-free, and have a shelf life up to three times longer, enabled by advanced technology, water-recycling systems, and solar power integration. Founded in 2024 by Harish Varadharajan, Timothy Chad Van Niekerk, and Damian López-Salazar, the startup targets the gap in India’s fruit industry for consistent, high-quality produce available year-round. With new funding it plans to expand production to Bengaluru, diversify into blueberries and raspberries, and scale daily output from 2–3 kg to 120–150 kg. Fragaria positions itself against imported brands like Driscoll’s, Zespri, and Rockit but says it faces no direct local competitors for premium berries. Sustainability is central to its model, aiming to lower farming’s environmental footprint while keeping products affordable. Prior to the current raise, the company secured ₹1.5 crore in a pre-seed round, illustrating continued investor interest in its scalable farming approach.
