Freedrum Studio builds a virtual drumset that uses a pair of sensor-equipped drumsticks and software for sound generation and play analysis, enabling drumming without a physical kit or specific environment. The Malmö-based company offers mobile connectivity so users can play, practice and receive feedback anywhere. Freedrum has been taking pre-orders for its next product, Freedrum II, since autumn 2020. The team is developing advanced 3D sensor technology that the company says could have applications beyond MusicTech. Freedrum plans a global market launch toward the end of the year and intends to strengthen its MusicTech expertise ahead of that release. The recent capital raise will be used to develop next-generation sensors and a software platform for drumming, practice and music sharing.
