Fundly is a cloud-based social fundraising platform serving non-profits, political organizations, and educational institutions. The company is based in Palo Alto, California, and was launched in 2009. Led by CEO Dave Boyce, Fundly counts over 1,000 cause-based organizations as customers, including Teach for America, TERI, Silicon Valley Education Foundation, American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter, Boise State Athletic Association, and Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The product is a cloud social fundraising service enabling causes to raise funds online. The company announced a $5M financing round led by Morgenthaler Ventures, bringing total capital raised to $7.5M. Mark Goines of Morgenthaler will join Fundly’s board as part of the transaction. Fundly is a SaaS social fundraising platform that enables nonprofits, political campaigns, and educational institutions to raise money by leveraging social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Its product includes a Facebook app and peer-to-peer features that let donors become social advocates, compete to raise funds, invite friends, and transact without leaving Facebook. Fundly reports being used in over half of senatorial races and has helped raise more than $200 million from hundreds of thousands of individual donors. CEO Dave Boyce said social solicitation yields a 10-times higher response rate and 52% higher donation than cold outreach. The platform charges on a pay-as-you-earn basis and requires no software installation, processing payments and recording pledges in real time. Fundly has expanded beyond political campaigns to serve general nonprofits and education clients such as Boston College and UMass Amherst.
