Overview

Gaianixx is a University of Tokyo spin-out engaged in the research, development, manufacturing and sale of a proprietary interlayer that is inserted between a substrate and semiconductor film to relax lattice mismatch and yield high-quality single-crystal compound semiconductors. Its technology targets applications ranging from power semiconductors and LEDs to next-generation sensors and communication devices. Since its Series B round, the company has progressed from pure R&D into commercialization; two partner companies have already shifted to device development using Gaianixx materials, and roughly 40 domestic and international device makers are in active joint-development or evaluation discussions. The firm operates a Yamanashi Technical Center and is building a dedicated pilot production line. Gaianixx holds 12 granted patents with a further 87 filings in process. Cumulative funding now totals about ¥3.85 billion, which supports global expansion across North America, Europe and Asia as well as key hiring.
