Overview
Gamezop licenses HTML5 games from developers and embeds them inside popular partner apps including Myntra, Grofers, ShareChat, MX Player, Glance, and PhonePe. The company has more than 1,600 partner apps and acquires users by piggybacking on these apps’ distribution without spending on user acquisition. Partner apps see an average 40% boost in engagement time from Gamezop’s games and receive a 50% share of the revenue Gamezop generates. Gamezop reports a present user base of 34 million monthly active users and aims to be on 5,000 apps by 2021; management expects revenue to grow five- to six-fold in the next 12 months. The startup is exploring additional real-money and free-to-play formats and will use the new funding to grow its mobile esports format and establish a presence in select overseas markets via its piggybacking model. Gamezop is run and owned by Advergame Technologies and was founded in 2015 by brothers Yashash Agarwal (CEO) and Gaurav Agarwal. Gamezop is a New Delhi, India–based smartphone gaming platform that aggregates short games from around the world into a single app. The app lets users play without constantly installing and uninstalling individual games. Although currently available only for Android, all games on Gamezop are device- and OS-agnostic and can be shared as weblinks to play on smartphones, tablets, PCs, or Smart TVs. The company is extending features for HTML5 game developers to bring them on par with native counterparts. Gamezop recently closed $350K (Rs. 2.3 crores) in seed funding. It plans to use the funds to invest in technology, distribution alliances, and talent.
