Genesis AI is building a general-purpose robotics foundation model trained on synthetic data generated by a proprietary physics engine. The simulation engine originated from an academic project led by co-founder Zhou Xian in collaboration with researchers from 18 universities, and several participants from that project now work at Genesis. The team comprises over 20 researchers specializing in robotics, machine learning, and graphics. Genesis says its simulator models the physical world accurately and enables faster model development compared with competitors relying on NVIDIA’s software. The company emerged from stealth last December, operates across Silicon Valley and Paris, and launched with a $105M seed raise. Its next milestone is to release the model to the robotics community by the end of the year.
