Genrobotics is a Kerala-based deep-tech startup that develops robotics and AI solutions to eliminate manual scavenging and improve safety in extreme environments. Its primary product, the Bandicoot robot, cleans confined spaces such as sewer manholes, sewer wells, storm water manholes and oily water sewers in refineries, and is equipped with legs, sensors, cameras, a multipurpose robotic arm, a poisonous-gas sensor and four IP68 night-vision cameras with a user interface located above the manhole. The company also developed a robot-assisted gait training solution, G Gaiter, for faster rehabilitation of paraplegic patients. Founded in 2017, Genrobotics serves markets including the UK, Malaysia, UAE and South Korea. The startup plans to deploy over 100,000 Bandicoot robots across India, expand its product portfolio into healthcare, scale R&D and large-scale production facilities, hire more talent, increase exports to ASEAN markets and expand its global footprint. Founded in 2015 and based in Trivandrum, Genrobotics develops Bandicoot, a fully automated robot for cleaning manholes. The company has deployed Bandicoot robots across 11 Indian states and has worked with Centre and State Governments to help eradicate manual scavenging. Hundreds of sanitation workers have gone through the rehabilitation process tied to deployments. After implementation in Coimbatore smart city, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs cited Bandicoot 2.0 as an example for enabling zero human intervention in sewerage cleaning. Genrobotics plans to scale up production of Bandicoot to meet growing demand and to develop new products and R&D efforts targeting the healthcare segment. The startup recently raised funding in a pre-Series A round to support these expansion and product-development efforts.
