Founded in March 2021 by Samuel Spitz and Kunal Rai (originally as Wearloom), Gently aggregates listings from resale marketplaces so users can search, filter and receive alerts across sites. The product partners with platforms including Poshmark, Depop, eBay, ThredUp, Vestiaire Collective, Rebag, Grailed, GOAT, StockX and TheLuxuryCloset and the company earns a percentage of sales it drives to those sites. Gently grew from a manual search service to a platform now serving tens of thousands of users every day and aims to reach 1 million daily users by 2024. The company announced a $2 million pre-seed capital infusion and plans to deploy the funds into product and technology development to improve search, launch SMS functionality and build a sizing feature. Gently is hiring to expand its six-person team and intends to broaden beyond fashion into other categories, including furniture. The founders are also eyeing a Series A in 2023.
