Overview

GeologicAI combines a suite of sensors with advanced machine learning and High-Resolution Decision Engineering to scan and analyze drill core in real time. Its core scanning technology captures high-resolution data that, when paired with purpose-built AI models and deep domain expertise, gives geologists, minerals strategists and investors faster and more accurate insights. The platform is in use across exploration and development projects on five continents, helping mining leaders improve discovery rates, lower costs, and speed resource decisions. The company announced a $44 million US Dollar Series B to support scaling and technology expansion. Planned uses of the funding include scaling globally, expanding proprietary AI and sensor technologies, and deepening presence in key mining jurisdictions. GeologicAI positions its tools as a way to improve exploration efficiency and reduce environmental impact as demand for critical minerals grows. GeologicAI develops an integrated digital rock analytics platform that combines hardware, software, and advanced machine learning to analyze core samples. Its proprietary core-scanning robot captures high-resolution multi-sensor data and uses machine vision and AI algorithms to convert scans into key rock properties. The platform's cloud-based digital rock viewing and analysis software provides AI-enhanced digital rock twins and automated digital geoscience workflows. This approach reduces the need for costly laboratory testing and subjective manual interpretation. GeologicAI is working with leading mining and exploration companies and is deploying robots globally. The company is accelerating global expansion, with a robot en route to Australia and additional units being prepared for shipment to Finland, Brazil, and Chile. Financially, the company announced an additional US$10M from Export Development Canada as an extension to its Series A, bringing the total round to US$30M. GeologicAI operates field-deployable core-scanning systems that combine multiple sensors (X-rays, spectroscopes, lasers, cameras) with machine learning to process large volumes of drill core on-site. It offers two tech packages: a trailerized system and a lighter airliftable unit for remote mines. The trailer contains a rack of seven servers (each with 10 compute cores) and 192 TB of total storage so all processing can happen in the field; the company aims to return results within 24–48 hours. Scan data remains the property of the miner, while GeologicAI can use derived refinements to update its models. The startup pivoted from oil-and-gas consulting after participating in Creative Destruction Labs and lowered its costs to scale for mining customers. Its service targets faster exploration of battery-relevant minerals such as lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese. GeologicAI is headquartered in Calgary, Canada, and has moved from consultancy work to a scalable AI-and-hardware offering.
