Glakolens, based in Istanbul, develops contact-lens-based biosensor technologies for non-invasive continuous intraocular pressure (IOP) diagnostics and monitoring. Its IOP sensor measures certain properties of the eye to accurately diagnose and passively monitor IOP fluctuations, collecting data wirelessly over a period without hospital visits. The technology is proprietary and licensed from Boğaziçi University; the company was founded by members of a research group there and is led by Prof. Günhan Dündar, Dr. Arda Deniz Yalçınkaya and Dr. Hamdi Torun. Glakolens plans to focus on introducing products that address specific unmet needs in ophthalmology. The company will use the seed funds to further refine, test and certify the technology. Collected data are processed using various protocols to offer clinical insights.
