Overview
Glint Solar is a Norwegian SaaS that helps energy companies and large solar developers accelerate planning and pre‑design of land‑based solar installations. Its platform aggregates multiple data sources and provides adaptable layout designs, yield estimates, country‑specific GIS and topographic analysis, plus 3D‑rendered project layouts and cloud‑based collaboration. Customers include E.ON, Recurrent Energy, and Statkraft, and the company says its customer base has grown almost 10x since June 2022. Customers report the SaaS triples project pipelines on average and enables site evaluation up to 10x faster than traditional methods. Glint has narrowed its focus to utility‑scale, ground‑based projects (while noting the software can still be used for floating projects and large rooftops) and plans to expand sales across Europe, including Italy and Spain. The company will also use the Series A proceeds to develop battery‑siting functionality that factors grid capacity, protected areas, noise, and compatibility with solar arrays to aid permitting and landowner engagement. Glint Solar provides a SaaS platform that helps developers identify, screen and model potential ground-based and floating solar project sites using satellite imagery, government datasets and machine learning. The product performs preliminary technical and financial analyses—assessing solar radiation, grid connection capacity, shading, slope, extreme weather risks and, for floating solar, underwater features and bathymetry. Since launching in March 2020 the startup has onboarded 14 customers across Northern Europe, Asia and the Americas, including early signups such as Scatec, Fortum and TotalEnergies. The company sells an annual per-market license and positions itself to capture value at the very early stages of the solar project pipeline. Management plans to use new funding to scale the business, expand into new countries and grow its customer base in Europe and the U.S., and expects to double the team over the next year. Several customers have advanced projects to negotiation, detailed engineering or late-stage project finance, and the company expects some of the first scoped projects to come online later this year.
