Lixea aims to revolutionise waste biomass utilisation through a novel fractionation process. The company is an SIT 2018 alumnus and has received support from the European Innovation Council. It closed a €2 million investment from the EIC Fund pilot, which complements a previous €2.3 million EIC grant awarded as part of the European Commission’s support to scale and commercialise the Lixea technology. The new funding is intended to help scale and commercialise its fractionation technology. The investment came from the EIC Fund, a programme that provides patient capital and makes direct equity and quasi‑equity investments. Lixea’s backing is part of the broader EIC initiative under Horizon Europe, which has a budget of over €10 billion for 2021–2027.
