GlyGenix Therapeutics is developing cures for metabolic disorders caused by genetic mutations, with a lead gene-therapy candidate AAV-G6Pase targeting glycogen storage disease type 1a (GSD1a). The company will use the funds to continue research and development on AAV-G6Pase. AAV-G6Pase has received orphan drug designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which would grant seven years of market exclusivity following approval. GlyGenix raised up to $150k from Connecticut Innovations’ Pre-Seed Fund, with several individual investors joining the round. The Pre-Seed Fund investment includes mentoring, resources and introductions intended to help turn the technology into a commercially viable business. GlyGenix is led by CEO Dr. William Fodor, Ph.D., and COO David Feldman, DMD, and is based in Woodbridge, Connecticut.
